August Update

Posted by anonymous on August 23, 2011 at 2:40 PM

I swear, I was planning on doing one of these a month ...

July found us rocking the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, performing insanely fun shows (one even resulting in a standing ovation) to incredibly receptive audiences. The entire cast and crew of Daphna an Introduction want to express a big thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed our show.

August has been kicking us into high gear. I've found myself fall into the position of Arts & Culture editor at The Uniter and I couldn't be happier. Throwing together the first issue right now (for September 1), we're going to have a big feature on the Orientation Week festival at the U of W, spotlighting such artists as Mise en Scene (a duo I literally just came from interviewing) and the Thrashers. Watch for those chats at uniter.ca and in our Interviews section.

David's band - The Manic Shakes - went into the studio for a day to record three songs and wound up knocking out seven. It was all caught on tape and will be premiering in this space soon, as well as a few videos for the newly recorded tunes.

Speaking of in studio - you can check out pictures from that, as well as the time I went into the studio with Federal Lights and producer Cam Loeppky to do some fly on the wall image capturing (video to come as well) right here.

Kaeleigh, Cleo and myself shot a video with Mr. Brian James last Wednesday (shot with the assistance of a newly acquired Steadicam Jr) for the infectious single "Crazy Love." I wound up editing the whole thing together on Saturday. You can check it out here as well as some on-set photos. If you watch closely (or at all, really) you'll see a couple of C/Sers cameoing in the clip.

Coming up we have a whack of videos and short films on the go, as well as an ongoing series of online advertisements with Mr. Ace Burpee from local radio station Hot 103.

It's an exciting time, kids and kiddos.
